When one thinks about things and go many places, I decided 7D. I went to a week long trip to Italy. The camera was waiting – good. Part of the video camera does not have much training. The issue is a different matter. But since I am not an expert, attention! I never understood only the ability to integrate the standards of this camera.

Advantages:
– Usability. Since I am familiar with the 30D, 7D is intuitive. If you arrive by the number rebels, read the manual or playing with a lot to understand what this camera can do.
– Adapts to your weaknesses so far. As you travel along the Cinque Terre, tricky lighting. Auto ISO, but actually helped the image quality. Needless to say, the camera is just a tool, one must understand how it is used.
– Versatility. I can not express how helpful is the video function. It opens up possibilities that simply do not exist. I would pay more equipment necessary.
– The battery is expected. I did a session of 8 hours on the tube without problems. Behind a lot of photos and customize the menus.

Cons:
– Weight. But no way to get around.
– Price. Once again, you get what you pay for. This is simply a great camera.
– Functions menu are not as easy as before.
– Maybe it's because I'm still learning but the creative choices are not only easy to use.
– The manual is fine, but can be profitable to add a DVD showing a lot of options, etc, is what I learned from trial and error.

Conclusion:
I moved to 7D, because the sensor of my 30D.
I chose the 5D 7D 5D costs and does not intend to do things more efficiently than the 7D. I borrowed a friend 5D recently, and is a good camera, but no better than the crash 7D. Ultimately, you know what devices do.
If you have a fence, updating if no camera function. It s amazing what can be done before we have the tools with ease. Secondly, if you have special needs, just 7D> 90% of the demand for non-professionals. Snob factor, not a cure. Thirdly, it makes you a better photographer, because he criticized his shot, and you can not shoot more – there improvement.
So why not five stars – or the application menu and manual is not ideal.

camera small capitals Incredibly

Right off the bat, I have this camera (have you seen the price ???). But I work with a guy who has one, and I'm motivated for comment.

I am working with a new camera guy in a small film, regardless of who was shot in the area Sacramento. I'm doing behind the scenes still photography. He was filming that day with a Steadicam, which is a very expensive item. I'm looking for pro-consumer camcorder as I have seen many times before. Instead, he is there with the Canon 7D. I'm thinking, what's going on? Why popped a camera fixed on a Steadicam? But he is filming the entire movie in this!

He has been hired to shoot this film, and the deal is that he brings his own equipment for the shoot. He said his professional camcorders still have some, but does HD Canon 7D, the quality is excellent, and the camera is not expensive for what it does. The more he thought, the more I wanted this camera.

The quality of the photos you took are excellent. Surprisingly well, as question of fact. And the quality of the movie is excellent too.

Now I have nice equipment, both film and digital Nikon and a Canon miniDV camcorder. But my Nikon not recording HD video. I really do not shoot video to be of excellent quality (I mean my cat is cute and all, but …). So it is not need this camera, a camcorder because I have and enjoyable. In general, I have too many cameras, period.

I will say that if I were in the market for a pro-consumer camera did two things and two things very well, I will definitely by this Canon 7D. There would be no need for separate video camera. This saves money, potentially a large amount of money.

For the quality of photos and video, the price is very reasonable. My Nikon shoots photos almost only cost me almost the same.

Very highly recommended. If you even thinking about this camera, go out and buy one! I'd buy this camera. Kill two birds with one stone, so to say. I guess this is the direction in which many high-end and even mid-range cameras go in. Less money in the long run, fewer cameras to lug around, unless tapes and cards to go. This is also much smaller than a huge video camera, is lighter, easier and more practical to store to carry everywhere.

Canon has a real winner here. Five stars + + + for the Canon 7D.
Honest review of the 7D

I bought my 7D, in January 2010.

I have used this camera for a lot, both in still and video capabilities. I'll review both separately to explain the pros and cons of each side of the camera.

Stills:

Pros:
Impressive-ISO-range and low noise
approach Automatic Gran (very, very fast)
-Frame rate is ridiculous
-18mp's wonderful. Great detail.
-Custom Picture Styles are very satisfactory.

Given that I'm more of a video person a photographer, I've really come to appreciate the styles of this camera produces. They are clear, even in horrible lighting. Even photos taken at ISO 3200 has very little noise.

I shoot in manual mode, but when I have to get pictures taken from a second quick, I find myself flipping as a green box and clicking the autofocus and shoot a series of images in seconds. The photos are impressive. Given that events photography, this has saved me a couple of times.

I bought the camera body, so you can only use the extra money to 3rd lens, the Tamron 17-50 F/2.8. It's a great lens but the range is clearly designed for "walking", I do, but when I am in a good distance, at the end of the range of 50 mm usually not close enough, not sharp enough.

I have to say, by a semi-pro camera, the fixed camera is the highlight. There are some very little to complain. If you have the lenses you need, this camera will make those lenses to create wonderful images.

Now for the cons: Video.

Video:

Pros:
720p-1080p resolution at 60 fps.
-Manual control during shooting.
compact and sealed

Cons:
-Blind

Rolling shutter when the camera takes a picture of "renewable", the line exploration of low CMOS sensor instead of exposing the sensor at a time (called "global risk"). This is especially evident in the high-action scenes and flashing lights. Tyre in 720 at 60fps, has been reduced but still evident, especially in a moving car and watching the tall objects like trees and poles (shown be supported). This camera is best used in low-action scenes with a stabilizer such as a tripod or shoulder mount (which kind of defeats the purpose to have a camcorder).

"Chroma Sampling

I understand that some readers do not know what it is. But for people who are thinking film in buying this camera, this is for you.

The sampling ratio is 4:2:0. What main isn't green screen. Yet another side effect is color gradation is affected by this. Create ugly objects in the images. There are online tutorials on how to load custom styles image to greatly increase the dynamic range of the camera (and custom Picture Styles to create stunning colors in the camera), but one thing that affects more images: Noise.

-Noise Reduction

The reduction of noise in the video is nowhere near as good as the picture side of the camera. Given that some might do not have the best light available, which will have to increase the ISO, and once past 1000iso peaks, the noise becomes more apparent. Fees through the camera as a monster in low light (it is), but the noise is very painful to see, especially when the material is mixed with HVX-200 images. The difference is obvious.

So that since a large proportion of buyers do not really care for video, most of my cons are irrelevant. It will be a wonderful camera for the clips birthdays and holidays. But for people willing to buy this (or 5D) for film production (like me), the restrictions must be considered.

It is a good camera for dramatic films with little or no action. But the action is a difficult thing to capture in this camera without it being gelatinous.

In general, it is a great camera. In fact, this is a great camera. It is bounded on the video side, but for $ 1700, which provides a high-capacity definition relatively inexpensive (most camcorders HD quality films are $ 3000 + and have inadequate lens) and a great "equalizer" to film students and independent film productions.

For an example of how the camera deals with areas of concerts, I have this video I did. Look at the lines created strange flashing lights. Also, be warned, this camera will be destroyed if laser hits the sensor (as shown is some videos online).

Drop Dead, Kick Ass

by G. Mercado from South Florida, USA on 2010-05-13
I run and own one of Florida’s most reputable paranormal teams “Team Phenomenon | Paranormal Bad Boys TV” and we need to high quality footage for our films. I looked at many other cameras but the XHA1s was by far the clearest in resolution. This camera is a snap to work with and the overall quality makes it worth the money. This is one of our main cameras we use for production of our films, videos and documentaries and if I could I would buy a second in a heart beat as backup. The camera battery life is exceptionally good and the features give your video that clear HD eye candy you want. This is the independent film makers top choice of cameras and I can get why, I simply call it an Orgasm in a box. because that is how you feel when you first get it in the mail.

My only two cons is that the front microphone head is kinda wobbly and it doesn’t shoot to hard drive, Digitizing tapes can put extra stress on the heads. An hour long HDV tape equals to 12GB of hard drive storage so make sure you have an extra 1.5TB of external HD backup for your projects and never overwrite the original tapes. I buy my HDV tapes from Walmart which are 6 for $20 and work beautifully.

Awesome!

by G. Conrad from North Hollywood, CA USA on 2010-04-25
As others have noted, this camera is not for the casual videographer or the faint of heart. But, if you’re looking for a superb prosumer camcorder, this is it. Packed with features, a great value for the price, with awesome video quality. Highly recommended.

Fabulous. Wonderful. Great!

by Julie S.C.Y, from on 2009-10-11
I love this camera. If you don’t have a lot of experience with prosumer cameras (as in my case), the first look may be a bit intimidating (a friend said, “It looks like you’re filming tv news”). Especially as I added a Rode shotgun mike (not sure it does anything other than make the sound louder, but…still checking it out).

You can’t rest the camera on your shoulder, but the image stabilizer helps and the grip and buttons are all well designed and easy to reach. I struggled through the manual, but fortunately bought Dan Curran’s dvd about the xh-a1 which appears to be almost identical. This was a -huge- help. I can’t recommend it enough if you are at all unsure of what you’re looking at. He goes through the simplest things (putting the shoulder strap on) to some very technical settings that you can do. The dvd saved me -so much- learning time and also prevented some careless mistakes (like letting sunlight through the viewfinder).

This camera feels like a terrific tool that can do whatever you need and the picture quality–even on Auto–is beautiful. Having the two XLR terminals will make a big difference, too. The versatility and design really meets such a variety of needs–way too much machine/expense for “home video” (it’s not the kind of camera people forget is pointing at them), but great if you want to shoot training films, web videos, independent films.

Technology has changed so much in the 20 years since I was in film school–and it’s still hard for me to believe that such a great camera, capable of such a quality product, is available for under $4000.

Very impressed. Highly recommended.

Great!

by A. Pitera from Michigan on 2009-09-14
I love this camcorder. I’m not particularly tech-savvy or a ‘pro’ (working on it) but after reading through the manual I am now able to do pretty much everything I want. The quality of the image is great, as is the price when you compare it to other HD camcorders available. It arrived really fast too.

Great Cam for Pros and Novices

by Michael Kern from Ketchikan, AK USA on 2009-09-08
This Canon cam has been a great investment to my company. It was easy to learn, fast to set up, and a pleasure to use; even when all the settings are on manual. All of the important controls are programmable hard buttons. Focus, Aperture, and zoom are all on the lens barrel for easy access. The picture is clear and the computer interface to the camera is a breeze. This is a real winner.

Very Nice, Very Tall

by Oshane Brown from Beach, SC on 2010-07-07
I purchased this because i miss place/lost/got my other tripod stolen. First off, its extremely tall and very easy to adjust to the highest height. It only took about 2 minutes to figure out how to operate the whole thing, since it came with absolutely no instructions at all. It would have been easy to attach my camera to it but the part where you screw it in on my camera is broken but a few rubber bands fixed that.
The only problem is that it is very hard to pan the tripod left/right, i feel that i might break it so i try not to. Also the center rod that you roll up can get tricky because there is a little plastic bolt that needs to be loosened before you use it. Other than those, it seems fine to me.

BTW!!!! With S&H and tax it comes up to $30, which was kinda high.

Great price!

by Angie Vargas from New York, NY USA on 2010-06-14
I’m happy with this tripod. It is perfect. It was my first time purchasing a tripod and it took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to set it up. Honestly it can be a bit confusing. This tripod by Polaroid did not come with setup instructions in the box whatsoever. If you’re a newbie you either have to figure it out or get someone experienced to help you out. Other than that, I am happy with the portability, the height and the rest of its functions! It seems like it will be durable and worth the money, which wasn’t much!

More than I spected !.

by A. Chaverri from Costa Rica on 2010-03-26
Great tripod, good looking, light, sturdy, easy to open and adjust and it looks that is going to last many years.
Great buy !!.

by E. Ladd from nj on 2010-08-07
like many who purchase this, i film skateboarding. i have a nikon d5000. for a dslr, this helps a lot with stabilization because you have to hold a dslr differently than a camcorder. i recommend this if you have one. also id your camera has bad sound quality you should buy an external mic and put it on top.also obviously a good fisheye with a wide angle close to 180 degrees. its very high quality and worth themoney i definately recommend buying it for a dslr

Canon Directional Mic

Excellent product – I bought it for my husband, to replace the same one he had for over 5 years, which unfortunately broke after all those years of use.

For the intermediate videographer

by T. Doe from South Amboy, NJ USA on 2010-03-23
I enjoy using this product. We film youth sports (specifically football) using a Canon Vixia HV30. Our biggest problem in the past was the overwhelming sound of wind in our production. The addition of this Directional Stereo Mic solved this problem perfectly. I love the ease of installation and the fact that it’s powered by the camera’s battery. Just attach it to the Advanced Accessory Shoe of the camera, fasten it with the circular clamp for stability and you’re off! It really does make a difference and definitely worth the price tag.

Good for HV40

by C. Williams from Pacific Palisades, CA USA on 2010-02-24
Regarding camera noise–there is no mechanical noise from my HV40 and therefore not an issue here. Of the three settings: The shotgun mic setting is useful in toning down ambient sound. For example, I recently shot a soccer player alone on an athletic field as he juggled, shot on goal and so on. In such a wide-open space there’s a lot of sound bouncing around that we don’t notice, but which is distracting later on the audio. The shotgun setting captures the sound of your subject, not the busses going by a block away or jets overhead. It’s also very good shooting from grandstands during games, and picks up the shouts of players and refs. The Stero One setting makes a slight improvement on the internal stereo mics, somewhat better clarity, to my ear at least. Stereo Two I haven’t noticed much difference. The DM-50 is small and nicely in proportion to the HV40. I think it’s best use is as a simple substitute for body mics, or for noisy environments. A better audio track when editing video is a joy–something you might not have known you were missing but you won’t want to give up once you have it. AS you may have noticed, it is often difficult if not impossible to remove unwanted background sound from an audio track. Prevention is the medicine.

SOOO SICK !!!!

by Tate Macdowell from on 2009-11-25
In my opinion this is a necessary addition to the canon HV series. I’ve used it in extremely noisy situations and the directional audio is incredible. In my opinion, this completes the camera!!!! Buy one, you will not regret it!!!

Fantastic

I just love it! It does a great job of selectively and clearly capturing what I want to record.

Excellen bag with plenty of room

by RichD from on 2010-06-20
I needed a bag to accommodate several pieces of gear without having to carry a large duffle bag around. This bag was perfect! In this bag I have a Canon EOS Xsi, a full size flash, a Canon HG21 HD camcorder, a Canon subcompact Powershot camera, chargers, cables, and batteries. It can hold a lot of stuff in its small package. I love this bag and would definitely get another one.

A solid and roomy case

by An Attorney from Midwest, USA on 2010-03-31
This case is very spacious. I’ve been able to keep my camcorder, my digital camera, a spare lens, and assorted outlets and the like in the case. There is plenty of padding.

The only slight downside is that it feels just a little cheap when you put a $40-$60 price tag on it. But I really like what the product has to offer, and I’m satisfied with it.

Great Overall Case

by James Fleeting from Wichita Falls, TX on 2010-01-15
The case is a good size and manages to fit everything you will need for the camcorder including spare sd cards, all the cables it comes with, charger, lenses, manuals and more. Lots of padding means I know my camcorder is always protected inside it. The walls inside are velcro and allow you to move them and arrange them as you wish to make room or to keep loose items from moving around. A great case for anybody with an HF200.

Panasonic HDC-TM700K Hi-Def Camcorder with Pro Control System & 32GB Flash (Black)

The Digital Concepts 0.45X Professional 43mm Wide Angle HD Lens with Macro is not working with the Panasonic HDC-TM700 camcorder because this camera has an 46 mm lense and I didn’t see the diference when I ordered the 43mm Wide Angle HD Lens

Gives excellent results with a simple Photoshop adjustment

by shep from Princeton, NJ, USA on 2010-06-06
Two tricks make this adapter really useful and versatile: a step-down converter ring, and one simple Photoshop adjustment.

I got this adapter for my Olympus micro 4/3 camera, to try out as an alternative to a $600 true wideangle. I use it on my 14-42mm lens (28 mm equivalent at wide angle), with a 43 to 40.5mm step-down adapter ring to make it fit my lens. (With this lens, I have to say that the focus mechanism struggled to work–the motors on this tiny lens must be too weak to move the added weight of this adapter–and I therefore found it best to use manual focus. Other cameras may not have this issue).

It converts my 28mm equivalent lens to what I roughly estimate is a 21mm lens–a big increase in angle of view.

The big problem is substantial barrel distortion. Also, there is chromatic aberration in the corners and some vignetting (darkening in those corners). Now, here’s the trick: Photoshop Elements (and, no doubt, other photo management programs) can eliminate the barrel distortion in: Filter/Correct Camera Distortion/Remove Distortion (try +20 to +30%). This has the huge additional benefit of pulling the corners out of the picture without reducing the wide angle of view–the very corners where both the chromatic aberration and vignetting occur! Crop to make the picture rectangular, and you have reduced all 3 problems significantly with this one adjustment.

Now, you still are not getting top quality. But for the ridiculously low price of this lens you are getting very acceptable quality at a twentieth of the price of a “real” ultrawide.

Fantastic for the price

by RedTerrier from Los Angeles, CA on 2010-05-07
Let’s get one thing straight…it’s NOT a .45 lens! At best, it might be .8, but really, for under $25, who cares?! It definitely gives you more real estate for the canon HV20/30, and is about $75-$100 less than the canon wide angle lens. I noticed no barrel distortion or softening of the image, and thankfully the macro actually works on the back end of it. Made of surprisingly sturdy glass and metal, it feels solid in your hand but doesn’t weigh down the front end of the tiny camera. I noticed a little problem with autofocus when zoomed in midway, but that’s more due to the mediocre AF on the camera than the lens.

Let’s face it, if you’re shooting seriously with the HV20/HV30, it’s because you don’t have the budget for a higher end HD camera. If you have the money, the canon wide angle is definitely a wider viewing/recording angle (as my co-worker shot a short film with it. that thing is truly a .45 angle). But if you are on a budget, or are just a hobbyist, this is an outstanding value. I was able to get an extra 2 feet of space on either side of my subject, which may not sound like much but definitely helps when shooting in tight quarters.

I deducted 1-star for the mislabeled viewing angle and the fact that if you screw it in too tight, you’ll have a heck of a time taking it off the camera without detaching the macro from the front (had this happen twice already). Just screw it slowly, and don’t worry, it needn’t be airtight. :p

Cheap, good quality, but not 0.45x

by Dmitry from on 2010-04-09
I bought this item for my Cannon HV30. The lens is cheap, but its quality is good enought for HV30.
It can work in two modes: macro and wide angle, that is great.
The disadvantages are:
1) its not 0.45x as declared. I’d say its about 0.8x
2) it works good only on zoom beyond about half way

Great price, cheap performance

by T. Dowse from on 2010-03-19
I bought this for my Canon HV20. Despite what the other reviews state, there are clearly two problems with this lens.

1. There is significant barrel distortion at the edges of the frame, although this is unlikely to be noticeable if the objects in this part of the frame are not too close to the camera,
2. There are undoubtedly very soft edges at the telefocal end of the zoom. I was extremely disappointed with how bad this is, having read the other reviews. I’m not kidding, this is like some super cheap soft focus effect from the 70s, around a substantial part of the frame.

Despite these problems, the lens clearly has uses.
1. The wide angle is completely fine in terms of barrel distortion, as there are few situations where it will be really noticeable. And even the times when it is, you may find this distortion is a price worth paying.
2. Try to avoid zooming beyond about half way. The blurring around the edges is awful.

In summary, you can’t really beat the price, so unless you can afford to pay the $150 for the canon wide angle converter, this is a reasonable alternative. I thought about 4 stars, just because the price is soooo cheap, but kept it at three because of the problems. But this is definitely not a keep-attached-at-all-times accessory. It should only be used at wide angles.

Works great with Canon HV30

by Delt from on 2010-08-24
I use this all the time. I even use it when I put my camera on a tripod. I pretty much leave this on my HV30 at all times. I like the location of the top mount for my Rode shotgun mic or LED light. I also like that you can attach a tripod shoe on the bottom screw that secures your camera to the grip. The little feet on the bottom of the grip have allowed me to shoot some low level shots by sitting the grip on the ground. Without this I would have just set my camera in the dirt to get the same shot and that’s not real good. I wouldn’t buy it expecting it to function as a steady cam/motion stabilizer, but for a convenience grip it’s cool. I haven’t figured a way to use it when shooting high though. It needs a shoulder attachment of some kind even if sold separately.

Buy it, Seriously, Do it!

by Elizabeth K. Budvarson from on 2010-07-13
This thing made life so much easier. I didn’t have to worry so much about where I set the camera down, the feet held it in place, even on slippery rock. I used it to film an RC rock crawling competition, and the handle of the X-Grip allowed me to get some great angles and low shots. It makes the footage so much more dynamic. It takes a little to get used to when you are trying to zoom in and out, getting a good angle on the camera controls while holding it is a little tricky at first. But you will get used to it pretty quickly and it’s not an issue after that. It held the camera securely, I never felt it was going to fall off, and the different placement options was perfect to find the best balancing point for my camcorder. One of the best purchases I will ever make for my camcorder.

Much better than I expected

by CJC from USA on 2010-06-04
I am a film student and I needed to buy a decent stabilizer for a shoot. I used tripods, but I wanted something that I could use that would offer versatility and free movement. I took the chance and ordered this stabilizer and boy, was I ever so glad I did!!! This is not just for extreme sports or skateboarding, this is very durable and affordable for anyone to use.

I looked at several stabilizers and mostly all of them were easily over $100 or close to it. Also, many of them looked way too bulky. The first thing that caught my attention was the price. I knew that I would not really know what I thought about it until I bought it.

What I really like about this is that it isn’t too big or awkward looking. It’s lightweight and you can add lights or microphone to it. I have a LED high light mounted to mine and I love it! I was able to get excellent low angles and could easily flow around with little to no camera shake. I was so impressed!

And here’s the HUGE plus…you can mount it to any tripod and you do not have to take your camera off the stabilizer!!! It’s also great to use if you have a small space to shoot in.

The stabilizer isn’t just for camcorders! You can also mount your DSLR to it as well.

If you aren’t sure, at least try it out. It’s a great piece of equipment, especially for film students, because it is affordable.

****[Side note] If you have a few more bucks to spend on an excellent stabilizer, try looking into the Hague Mini Motion-Cam at: [...].

This particular stabilizer will set you back only about $82 give or take and you can also check out the video on YouTube. I wish I would have known about this while I was in class…but, having the Opteka X-Grip served its purpose during that time.

Made entirely of plastic, but still usable for a 7d

by David J. Thornburg from on 2010-06-03
Bought this for my Canon 7d (5-7 lb. camera). It is made entirely of plastic, (not sure what I was expecting) but does not fall apart or wobble unacceptably.

Very Handy Accessory – Highly Recommended!

by CFH from Blue Ridge Summit, PA USA on 2010-05-11
The “Opteka X-GRIP” is a surprisingly versatile tool for hand-held video shooters. Since we professionally produce instructional videos (some are available on Amazon), most of our videos are fairly static and taken from fixed tripod positions, but on occasion we do location shoots that require moving the camera to get better perspectives. The X-Grip greatly increases the shooting options and usability of the footage by allowing for lower camera positions and greater stability over normal hand-held camera work. Here are my observations:

Pros:
+ Adjustable Mount; we have used this with everything from a Flip MinoHD (needed a washer to make it tight) to a Canon HV40
+ Extra Hot-Shoe; handy if your camera doesn’t have one, we have used both regular and IR video lights with good results
+ Good Stabilization; makes getting usable Point-of-View (POV) shots much easier than using purely hand-held camera work

Cons:
- Mounting Threads are a little longer than expected, not a problem on most of my equipment and easy to workaround

This is a very handy accessory that exceeded my expectations!

Highly Recommended!

Miss Leading Picture

by Brandon B. Hudson from Planet Earth on 2010-02-17
The fabric used for this strap is very itchy.

I assumed from the picture that the strap would have similar size dimensions as the strap that came with my DSLR Sony 350 Alpha camera(~42″ length x 1.5″ width [at the fat part]). However; this strap is the same length but only 0.75″ wide. This narrow width in combination with the uncomfortable fabric makes this strap all but unusable.

The strap is also sewn together with a twist in it. I’m constantly moving the twist down from the back of my neck as it makes this uncomfortable product even more so.

I wear the strap with my shirt collar tucked in between my neck and the strap. This solution will get me through the rest of my vacation, but I will be looking for a new one as soon as I get home.

The picture for the product looks like the strap I got if you fold the strap up 6 times.

Food for thought. I don’t like this product so much that I’m reviewing it during my holiday.

you get what you pay for.

this strap was sewn together twisted. it’s the most uncomfortable strap i’ve ever tried to use because it’s faulty and rubs and scraps your neck. I will not use this product.

Solidly built, but not very comfortable and shorter than I’d like

by Nathan Andersen from Florida on 2009-06-04
I picked this up for use with my Canon VIXIA HFS10 camcorder, and ended up disappointed. The reason I bought this one, rather than, say, an obviously more comfortable strap like an OP/TECH Pro Loop Strap is that this one has a single connector loop and I thought that would be better with the single connection point on my HFS10. I do like that feature, but ended up deciding that comfort and length were more important to me than ease of connection.

It turns out that this one’s solidly built but not very comfortable. It is basically a thin (about 3/4″) canvas type strap that starts to chafe at my neck after a bit. I couldn’t find anything, either here or on the Canon website (or any other website I searched) that said how long this strap was, so I went ahead and ordered it hoping it would suit my needs. It turned out to be a bit shorter than I’d like. The circumference is about 32″ (when stretched out it’s about 16″ long from the point where the neck loop opens up), which gives the entire loop a fairly short radius of about 5″. It does, of course, hang down from the neck far enough to allow me to bring the camera in front of my face, but sometimes I like to use the neckstrap as a stabilizer while I hold the camcorder out in front of me at about chest height, and with this strap I don’t have a lot of latitude for that kind of use.

Depending on your needs, this could be just the thing. Personally, I’m going to go with a different strap.
