Buyer Beware!

I anxiously awaited the arrival of this product. Unfortunately, I can't give it a true rating because I can't even use it. There was supposed to be a Micro SD card included -- which is necessary for operation -- but it wasn't! I've contact the company and, supposedly, they're shipping one out. That remains to be seen! There's no phone number to contact this company... only an email address. I'll put an update if I get the card.

I have found that both the audio and video are excellent quality! One issue though is the durability. Of the five I have purchased, none of them are working any longer. Each has a different issue as to what went wrong with them. Now the hard part. What is the warranty, and how would one obtain parts? I have also found that the plastic clips do not hold up very well, and where would one go to buy just the clips? This is the biggest issue with these systems, otherwise they are very good.

Pros: small, records in color and sounds, clips, has a lace hole so you can hang it around stuff

Cons: can't figure out how to setup the time and date, can't follow instructions, can't figure out the sound activation feature, short battery life (2 hours).

They said when decibel of video is more than 60 then it will be record video automatically. I test it and i need to cry loud !! for start to record... :-(

Optically Delighted! However...

Could use some better instructions though. Had to guess stuff out because the English is poor in the tiny user manual.
Alsotrying to get the Camera prepped for still shots via DC is a bit tricky. So far, i am just guessing if I have taken any pics. Guess I will have to get an Ipod or similar device to check before calling quits to review my vids and pics. So far, I am very pleased with what I have received. I have read the horror stories about bad batteries, memory, and structural defaults in these devices here on Amazon. I would like a pair with the 8GB feature. I thought it would be easy to upgrade but the memory card is not removable. Bluetooth is effective and easy to setup. FM radio is weak it seems maybe I am not doing something right, but so far I have not got any signals and I am a block from a radio station. The MP3 is great! I synced it to my Laptop to add some music files. But I still had to go back in a open the music files in the Music Files section of the Device and add them individually to the Audio section or they would not play. They are sounding great. This will take some people about a week to get used to. Like a new laptop or cellphone. You must use patience and keep re-reading the manual even though it is in broken English. Once you get the ins and outs hammered out you are gonna have some really great fun with this. Oh I have not figured out the timestamp feature. Mine continually reads 1/1/1980. Have fun figuring this out and planning your videos! I know what I have planned!

One point to remember if you plan to upload to Youtube and Facebook remember to stop recording at the proper intervals so you will not go over the bandwidth for the upload. I think it is like 20 minutes for Facebook. So give yourself a countdown. I would stop at 19 minutes to be safe. Then hit the record button and start another segment and repeat the process every 19minutes or so.

My JVC GR-DVL920U indicated that the heads needed cleaning after 50 hrs of recording and hundreds more on playback. That said, I popped the Sony MiniDV cleaner tape, played it for 10 sec. per instruction and the indication went away. I only use the brand name tapes (e.g. JVC, Sony, Maxell,& TDK) which probably accounts for why I haven't had any problems with either the unit or this cleaning tape. If you use the really cheap tapes, they tend to mess up the heads even after cleaning just because of the residue they leave behind.

It Worked!

I was getting worried when my videos of Yellowstone I recorded were coming out with blue streaks everywhere and some were completely blue. I read it probably needed to be cleaned and bought this. 15 seconds and this completely fixed the problem, there was no hassle.
If you are experiencing problems seeing recorded videos in your Mini DV camera you should give this a try.

Sony MiniDV head cleaner

When my trusty Canon HD video camera started to show skipping frames, I did some research and found out that the Sony miniHD tape cleaner is one of the few products meant for regular maintenance use. I tried it and it worked great!

A great way to stay stocked up

As the video guru at a small private college, I'm called upon to record and archive everything from guest lecturers to graduation ceremonies, and I like using one trusted brand of tape for all my cameras and to give crews when I contract for their services. I've been a professional video/TV producer most of my life. I still shoot a lot of mini DV format for webcasting - You Tube etc. I've experimented with other brands, but I've found Sony to be the most dependable, with the least amount of dropouts and other issues, over a period of 10 or 15 years of regularly using the format.

So this recent purchase I made of 20 cassettes at a great price gets 5 stars from me. I'll be buying from this supplier again! To check out professional footage on Sony mini DV in my home studio, search "timothy james dean channel" on u tube. The quality is excellent!

60 Minutes?

Did anyone else buy these in 2009 from "Lowest Prices & Best Service Corp. DBA Number 1 in service"? Mine are all 45 minutes long!! It took me a long time to realize this.
