STOP LOOKING & BUY IT NOW-CAN'T BEAT IT

by MOONFIXER from on 2010-09-04
I shopped around for weeks before deciding to buy this camcorder...wish I had purchased it long before now. After placing the order the camera arrived several days earlier than I expected. Arrived complete and no shipping damage-well packed. After charging the battery, I used the "quick start" gude and began using the camera. Outstanding quality and so easy to use...I wasn't disappointed with anything about this camcorder. It is awesome...the quality of the HD video and sound is amazing. You don't know me but all I can say is, save yourself some effort and get this deal (great price through Amazon). Also, the vast storage space means I don't have to worry with having memory cards unless I choose to; it's always ready to go with no extra "stuff' to bother with. I'm leaving tomorrow for a trip to Yosemite, followed by several days along the coast in Big Sur...this camera will ensure I will have life-like memories captured to enjoy over and over again. By the way, I was a writer before retiring so I this review may sound a bit like a commercial but I assure you I have nothing to do with anyone related to the sale of this camcorder; I just want everyone to be as pleased as I am and the sooner you start, the better.

JVC took lessons from General Motors

by David Makaroff from Abbotsford, BC on 2010-08-20
When the first commercially available electric car came out 12 years ago in California, they leased a limited number of them to both fleet and private consumers and then promptly quit making them, claiming that the demand for the car was too low. Then, they refused to renew any of the leases or allow potential buyers to purchase the car at the end of the least. Not only did they forego the profits that could have been realized by selling the cars to their happy customers, they went through the expense of reclaiming each vehicle, only to crush them and melt them down. Strange decision? Perhaps. Unwise allocation of resources? Certainly. But, it had to be in their best interest or they wouldn't have done it.

If video editing could be effectively done in camera, this unit would get a 10 out of 10. But, camera manufacturers rely on their drivers, software developers and computer makers to take images captured through the lens and manipulate them into something useable. The way a manufacturer engineers their software determines whether it has proven effective at "playing well with other children." Their choices MUST factor into how the product is rated. Frankly, JVC needs to return to grade school.

The box of a brand new JVC Everio GZ-HD6 says that the system requirements for this camera include "Macintosh G4/G5 and Intel dual core processors with speeds of 1.66 GHz or faster" It also says "Full HD" and "1080P". That is why I bought it! Then, I quickly found out that both are blatently untrue. The camera is interpolated - or 1080i. Without question, it creates beautiful images. But I say "so what - if the images it creates are unusable".

Reviewing the camera on Amazon, what you will find is that, these days, no Macintosh system requirements are listed; only a disclaimer: "Note: Software for Macintosh is not included. The applicable software is required. The system requirements information above is not a guarantee that the provided software will work on all personal computers meeting those requirements." Here is the real truth. The developers on both sides have made the .TOD files nearly impossible to use with industry standard professional software like Final Cut Pro and Premiere. I tried editing with versions of both and I couldn't make movies without numerous additional time-wasting completely unnecessary steps in my workflow. To their credit, Sony Vegas works like a champ with the PC software JVC provides in the box, but there is no Mac version.

I have visited JVC Everio online to see if they have resolved these issues in new cameras. What I discovered is that they have nothing even close to the quality of an HD6 or HD7 in their current consumer line up. It isn't because they haven't perfected the technology.

This series of camera is the General Motors electric car of a decade ago. Big oil came along and dictated what would take place. The camera, like the car, was just too good to be true, so someone had to make it ineffective in the real world; and ultimately they had to make it go away. I'm left with a stellar camera awaiting only the recall notice.

So, JVC.... are you merely smashing them - or are you melting them down as well? Who was your "big oil"? I guess the question is rhetorical since I can easily edit my footage using Sony Vegas on a PC. My warranty expires tomorrow. I take it there is nothing you are willing to do to make this right.

First test of the JVC GZ-HD620

by ToThePoint from on 2010-07-20
I did a lot of research before buying this product because I was concerned about low light performance(many HD cameras record grainy in low light.) You need to spend some time with the manuals to get full use of the features.

Pros: Small, light, easy to use, everything performs as it should.
Low light performance was exellent, this is what makes it stand out from most others, a feature called Super LoLux (Warning-cheaper JVC models don't have this feature-I bought one and returned it). Here is a YouTube URL from our first use
[...]
or just do a YouTube search for Shayla and Jake. Select the highest resolution and go full screen and judge the video quality for yourself.

Cons: Just one, It comes with no cables for connecting to an HD TV. You must purchase a 'Mini HDMI' yourself. This is the only reason I did not give it 5 Stars.

Battery life is about 45 min. I will be ordering a second one.
I hope this helps.

happy

by Nicholas Arszman from on 2010-07-06
picture looks great....and believe the low light feature they talk about. i filmed my daughters birthday party inside with very low light....and even with just candles burning....and it adjusted very well, and still had a clear picture. Only downfall was that the software they give you to transfer the video to your pc seemed to not work well for me. I even tried on two different computers. The picture kept skipping while trying to view on the pc...

Great Picture, Lot's of Wind Noise - Watch Video Test

by MARK D. MCQUILLEN from on 2010-06-23
On the whole I'm very happy with this camera. Excellent detail and color. One drawback is that the microphones pick up a lot of windnoise which can drown out the recording. To remedy this I bought WindCutters and placed them on the microphone holes. This solved the problem.

You can watch a video I took before I put the Windcutters on by following the link below. This is a video about an Urban Farm in the heart of San Francisco. I got some incredible close-ups of bees!

Excellent for the price

by E. Zee from NYC on 2010-08-27
No a bad entry HD camcorder.
Very simple to use.
Point and shoot out of the box.

Uploading to my mac is very simple.
23 min gap might be annoying to most but easily
fix during post production.

Time laps is great. Something I look for in a camera.

Chosen this camera because of the Minolta Lens.
Also my Lensbaby Tele and Wide angle attachment fits perfectly.

Generally I would use my DSLR for all still shots.
So took some snaps and the pictures where pretty good in daylight.
At night it gets grainy. With the spot meter you have to be dead
on in the selected zone or everything flushes out.
I think what's missing is a manual aperture setting.
Then both will be resolved.

Not the best camera I've shot with but it's small and great for on the go cam.

(
took a shot at the moon right after I received it.

Whit the camera it's OK, but the edition software is very poor. I ask JVC about other software, but, from JVC Brazil they only said that's an imported product and, from USA JVC, I don't have any answer.
I try the software Vegas from Sony but it don't recognize the camera. Now I pretend try the Pinnacle. Can someone help me?

Amazing HD Quality

by jwesh from on 2010-07-12
This camcorder is a replacement to a Sony DVD camcorder I had a few years ago. The quality difference is amazing. The quality inside is good in a well lit room and only average in a poorly lit room but that is typical with any camcorder under 1000. The outside quality is amazing, it really blows me away on DVD I made using the XP recording format. UXP is the best quality but XP is the best you can burn to a DVD. It looks almost blu ray disk quality, it will really blow you away. This is my 4th camcorder and the software included is actually not bad, if all you want to do create simple dvd's with it. It user friendly and has a few nice options, more advanced users will need to pick up better software but it is better than the basic software I have ever recived with any of my previous sony camcorders. You can even record in UXP format and have it converted just for burning to dvd purposes to xp format, that way you still have it in the best quality incase you ever get a Blu Ray burner which is also supported by this software by the way. I got this from Amazon for only $369, that is a amazing deal.

GZHD500 (good if you find it for $400 or less)

by Jaime L. Blasini Merlo from Puerto Rico on 2010-05-12
Cons:
Any photo shot (it is have 2 Megapixels) inside is extremely grainy, even in the daytime.

Recording longer than 23 minutes it is breaks into 23 minute segments.

Its a good camera if you are using it outdoors. This cannot be used
in doors, even with bright lights. The video is dark and granny.

The "laser touch" feature looks cool, but actually using it is awful. It's really nothing more than an up / down slider that glows blue, and is terribly inaccurate.

Not have light, no remote control.

The battery life is poor.

Not have a menu setting to get out the words in the display.

The snapshot and zoom buttons are a little uncomfortable.

The software is very poor.

Pros:
Full HD 1920x1080 Recording videos (outside only)
HDMI out put port is 1080p.
HDMI® (V.1.3 with x.v.Color(tm))
24Mbps High Bit Rate Recording
Advanced Image Stabilizer
20x optical zoom.
The camera size is comfortable unless you have a great hand.
Advanced Image Stabilizer
1.37 Megapixel CMOS Sensor
24Mbps High Bit Rate Recording
Konica Minolta HD Lens
80GB Built-in HDD
micro SD/SDHC Card Slot

Recommendations:
Use UXP resolution option always.
Use a category 2 HDMI cable always.

Nice Video camera in a small Package

by Jose Nieto from North Carolina on 2010-08-20
The video quality in this camera is good, I like the compactness and ease of use as well. the capability to take pictures is almost an afterthought, you need absolutely perfect lighting or you'll end up with a barely discernible photo. There are not many options are setting to tweak so this should only be bought by someone that wants to point and shoot video.

Love this Camera

by L. Tate from Tacoma, WA on 2010-08-19
I love the size of this camera and that it fits well into my hand. I know it's not the highest quality video that I could get, but really for the money, I get to record all of my toddler's good times. The color is a fun bonus too :)

Decent, but could use some tuning up.

by HostileHST from Oregon, USA on 2010-08-11
Battery life is horrible, less than an hour when using it in 720p mode. 1080p mode is very grainy, but I expected that. Focus, well, sure wish they had a manual one cause it could be adjusted a tiny bit and be pretty decent. Macro is great, but man, you have to hold real steady to keep it in focus. All in all, we still like the cam despite it's short comings.

Nice Camera only missing interchangable batteries.

by flb13156 from Virginia, USA on 2010-08-11
I like this camera. The video quality is nice at 720 at 60 frames per second. It's super compact and easy to carry. Forget using the digital zoom it just degrades the image quality. The buttons work fine as you get used to them. The negatives include 1.Not so good in low light but all these
super compacts suffer from that and you can't expect to shoot in no light and get a good video with any camera. 2.Sometimes impossible to see the screen in daylight. 3.The digital Zoom it needs a optical one. 4.No interchangable battery and this is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. I could live with all the other negatives but not including a interchangable battery is a no no. The included battery charges quickly but I just don't know how long it will last before the camera needs to be replaced. We will see. For what it is, kind of a toy it does a good job of producing
quality video. Yes it could be better but for what I paid $79.99 I can live with it's shortcoming's.

Very satisfied with Camera/Camcorder

by G. Harper from Georgia on 2010-08-11
I bought a few low end camcorders in the past, the kind that takes 3 AAA batteries and they drin so fast. I saw this and it seemed to be nicely built and a mid class unit. I like it has HDMI out as well as AV out to watch on tv. Ofcourse it has your usual SD card slot.
Easy to get used to and figure out. Takes good pics, a tad on shaky side so youi have to hold the cam tight when snapping a pic. The Camcorder is better. I threw in a 2 GB SD card. on 1080 it only gives me 30 mins to record, but on VGA mode I get almost 2 hours, very good qaulity even at that setting. There is a lower setting QVGA which I have 5 1/2 hours of video record time. I think I'll buy a 4 or 8 GB card (it will take up to 32 GB).
Very please with the unit. Small and flat, easy to carry around. Not much bigger than a cell phone really. If you want a decent camcorder for under $100...i'd day go with this one.

Low light

by Scott Garforth from on 2010-09-05
Just a point that I noticed while researching cameras- although the product description mentions the "Super LoLux with Back-illuminated CMOS Sensor" this particular camera does not have this sensor. The "big brother" does, and then this is listed under the advantages: http://www.amazon.com/JVC-GZ-HM550-High-Definition-Camcorder/dp/B0032FPYHY.

Not Bad at All

by Charles Robinson from Sylmar, CA, US on 2010-07-06
It was a tough choice, but I feel confident that I bought the right camcorder. The timelapse function was the main factor in my search, but don't feel that I sacrificed much else in this decision (except for horrible low-light sensitivity).

My only real regret about this camera is the output file format. The software allows for some output options, but the .mts file format is not compatible with most apps. Apparently, the HD output will not be as good as what you see thru the camera playback. The software assumes that you will be burning the videos onto DVD, which is OK if you don't care for HD. I'm still not sure if full HD playback is possible without the camera as the player. There are some conversion programs out there that will allow the videos to be edited with the popular editing apps, but I don't yet have any experience with such conversions. This is the biggest problem with the JVC GZ-HM300.

Good zoom, excellent resolution, and good battery life. Now, if I can only get that HD video out into the real world.
If I'm wrong, please someone set me straight...

Excellent camera for the price!!

by R. G. Sherwood from on 2010-05-29
I am an amateur when it comes to cameras, camcorders and the like. I'm basically a point and shoot type of customer that wants a good quality camcorder for recording our families activities. This is an outstanding camcorder for the money! First and foremost it takes very good quality videos. While I'm sure the videos aren't the highest of hi-def possible keep in mind this is a $300 and change camcorder. The video quality far outshines your standard camcorder. The two other features - the time elapse and the motion detection both work very well, although outside of surveillance I'm not sure what the use of either is. The motion detection might be handy at something like a basketball game where you would point it at one end of the court and only capture the action when it's on that end. The only con I had with the camera wasn't really the camera's fault. I couldn't get the Patriot 16GB memory card to work consistently. I bought the Transcend cards and they work perfectly.

Would be great if Low-Light video was better

by J. Thomas from on 2010-05-04
This camcorder seemed like a great deal, with a 20x optical zoom, HD filming, Time-Lapse, and CLAIMS of super low-light performance.

Reality: Low-Light performance is TERRIBLE !!! Horribly grainy pictures in even moderate lighting. Inside at night, with normal lighting from 3 overhead lights plus a lamp on, the video is grainy and washed out. The video looks like the sample pic in their description that shows what it should NOT look like. This thing has a TEENY TINY little sensor. There is no way this could ever take good video in low or moderate light. I bought this to take video of my soon-to-be-born first child, which will be mostly indoors with normal lighting. To use it for this purpose, I would need to invest in several industrial-strength halogen lights and aim them all at the baby at the same time to illuminate him enough.

Outside, this takes good video, assuming there is plenty of light.

The time-lapse feature seems awesome at first, but it sucks down the battery very quickly, unless it is plugged in. The screen must be kept open while filming or else the camera will shut off. Why not have a time-driven system that only turns on the camera for a few seconds at a time, which would vastly improve the battery life???

This camera is HD, but it is 1080(i)... Interlaced, and not full true 1080p. The description is misleading when it states that it can PLAY BACK in 1080p... they don't come right out and say "oh but by the way, it only records in 1080i." Quite misleading.

This cam does not come with a HDMI cable (most in this price range don't, either). It does come with a RCA type connector and usb cable. This is an HD cam, WHY oh WHY would I EVER choose to use an RCA cable to watch it??? I can't even tell you if it takes decent hi-def video because I can't hook it up properly to my HD tv. Should really INCLUDE HDMI CABLE... they could include one for very cheap, since they would be buying them in bulk at probably 50 cents apiece.

I returned this the day after I bought it. I have ordered the Sanyo FH1a instead, which has a MUCH larger sensor, and is actually CHEAPER now than this JVC! Whatever you do, watch some youtube videos showing demo videos of the actuall camcorder you want to buy, BEFORE you purchase.

This gets 2 stars, one for good zoom and one for time-lapse. But this cam really is 100% worthless indoors. I tested it indoors first at Best-Buy, but they have those very bright ceiling lights, so I was unaware of how bad this cam really is.

HD Upgrade Can Cost $$$

by ralphh909 from on 2010-08-12
My review does not really concern the JVC GZ-HD300. It is a really great little camcorder. With a 60GB hard drive, 20x lens, full HD and easy point-and-shoot capability, you can't beat it for the price. I got mine on clearance and am very satisfied.

My comments concern the additional costs that you will incur if like me you are making the jump from your old SD camcorder to a new HD. To produce DVD's in Blu-ray or AVCHD, you need to transfer your HD video into your PC. Well my PC is about 3 years old and did not have the minimum hardware requirements needed for all the 2010 video editing software on the market. So, first I needed to upgrade my RAM and hard drive. The max I could do on my HP DV6110 was 2GB of RAM which is okay if I use a 2009 software program. (Corel Videostudio Pro X2 good for older PC's)

Next I learned you really need a lot of fast hard drive space for HD video. I had 30GB left on my 100GB drive that ran at 5400RPM's. So, the next purchase was a 320GB Hitachi hard drive that runs at 7200RPM's. And, of course I needed a new Panasonic DMP-BD65 Blu-ray/AVCHD player so that I could watch my new videos. Have my purchases finished? Probably not. As I become more familiar with my new toy I'm sure something will come up. I'm not complaining mind you, I'm happy with the beautiful video I can watch on my 40" Samsung HDTV. (Not new, already had it.) But, I just wanted to share with you my experience in making the jump up to HD video recording. You'll love the video but it comes at a cost.

I searched so much and anylised a lot this camera before buying it. Obviulsy not enough. It was a terrible surprise once I stared using it.
It is no very friendly to use but I tryed my best to get familiar with it. The worse part came when I stat working with the files and find that TODs are not compatible with the most popular video editors. TOD files are hard to manage, to organize, and to visualize. I need to buy a Sony Vegas 9.0 editor so I could work with my videos. Is been a very hard time. I don't understad why JVC designs a camera that records in files that no one can use!

A wonderful camera

by PCDuck from CA, USA on 2010-07-09
This is a great camera indoors or outdoors. The file format is mts which can be played in windows but you need to install "klite codec full" in order to watch the video. I have not encountered any problems for the past 8 months.
If you convert it to other formats such as wmv or avi or mpeg2 the original video will lose its great quality. You have to wait until the HD-Burners are less expensive so you can directly create your Hi-Def DVD

On Par with Cannon, except for a few minor things

by Douglas Figueredo from New York, NY USA on 2010-06-03
Overall I found the GZ-HD300 to be on par with my Cannon HG10 in image quality and workability. Others have written about the specs all of which I agree with, so I'll just say the only minus for me is that there is no mic input, which I use a lot. Otherwise it's just as tiny as the others and probably a bit easier to operate using the touch slide, rather than a joystick as the Cannon's have. The colors are a bit over saturated by default, at least for my taste, but as with any camcorder or camera, you'll want to make specific adjustments to get the best image quality you can.

60GB internal is plenty big for any event, but adding an SD card made it easy to get files into my mac.

If you're choosing between cannon or JVC based on specs, either will be fine - go by price. Right now the price on this is unbelievably low so it's a no brainer if you don't need a mic input.

Decent camera for the money

by Christopher Doepke from San Antonio, Texas on 2010-04-14
Not a bad camera for the money. We really didn't need the High-Def as we won't be able to burn that quality till we purchase a Blue Ray burner but we figured the price will drop to a reasonable level in a few years and we plan on having this camera for 5-8 years like our old one. The high 8 we replaced is about 9 years old and was top of the line back then offering a 16x9 recording format and honestly, I can see a little difference in the quality of the picture but it wasn't like switching from VHS tapes to DVD's. The image is still a bit grainy in low light so just because it says HD on the camera, don't expect a true HD image that you see on cable TV. Obviously, their camera's are a bit more high tech.

All in all, this camera is easy to use and you get a decent picture with great sound. If you want a longer battery life, you can always purchase a bigger battery. I wouldn't mind a better zoom on the lens and if we had an extra hundred bucks to spend, you could get the next level up but this was just fine for us. If you have to, you can always switch to the digital zoom but I'm not a fan of how those work.

If you are in the market for a decent camera at an affordable price, this is the one for you.

The JVC Everio X GZ-X900 Everio X is designed to maximize every precious moment with Full HD 1920 x 1080 video or 9 Megapixel digital still images. Creative shooting functions such as ultra-slow motion video and high-speed "motor drive" still photography will expand your horizon. And all this, in a single pocket-sized camera. Everio X is a slab-sided rectangle without the handgrip, protrusions or indentations found on most camcorders. The design allows plenty of flexibility in how the camera is held - from below, above, or whatever suits the situation and the user's preference. At the heart of the camera's superior image quality is a 1/2.33-inch 10.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor - the world's first to be used in a Full HD AVCHD camera. The high quality 9 Megapixel digital stills the camera shoots correlate directly to the un-interpolated performance of this CMOS sensor and Bayer array RGB color filter. For the first time ever, this 10.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor is the source of 1920 x 1080/60i Full HD AVCHD format video. The camera records at a stunning 1000 TV lines of horizontal resolution - the theoretical maximum level of 1920 x 1080 Full HD.

Features

  • Designed to maximize every precious moment with Full HD 1920 x 1080 video or 9 megapixel digital still images

Great camera within its limitations

by D. Werner from on 2010-03-26
This is without a doubt the best camera / video camera combination on the market. The video is absolutely outstanding and surpasses my prior camera the sanyo Xacti HD 1000 by far - and I thought that camera was outstanding. The photos are also brilliant with great color saturation and reproduction. It turns on almost instantly and the 5mp stills that can be taken while shooting video are also great quality. The camera has only 2 drawbacks, a limited optical zoom and only fair low light performance. The high quality of the images does much to surpass the limited optical zoom as the digital zoom can be used toover 10x with still wonderful quality. Compared to my panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5, a highly rated point and shoot the low light performance is similar. Bright indoor lights are no problem, but dim lighting results in a grainy image. The use of a tripod or monopod has helped low light performance significantly. Recently shooting images at dawn with a 32x zoom on video the simultaneously recorded stills were grainy but I captured images I never thought I could. When the lighting is better WOW! The images taken on a recent back countrytrip could be published, and the video is DVD quality. The image stabilization is excellent as well with good lighting. The high speed pictures and video are good but also require adequate lights. Lastly, it fits in my front jeans pockets without too much of a bulge. In summary,it is as good as a high quality point and shoot camera, and better than nearly any other video camera on the market wrapped in a small easy to use, instant on package that can always be with you. Low light conditions require a tripod or monopod and the zoom is limited as well but these factors affect less than 10% of my needs.

Great Blu-Ray Videos. Does not replace Point&Shoot by any measure.

by Frank Skomial from Woodland Hills, California on 2009-09-28
After VHS, MiniDV, and MiniDVD, this is my 4th generation of camcorder. The video quality is simply great. The 5X zoom ratio is sufficient for most uses. Software supplied covers major basic chores. Tried few video processing 30 days download software and none of them recognizes the camera, but some can use the file produced by it, e.g. the .MTS AVCHD HDCAM format.

JVC hinted in printed paper manual that files can be archived into an external USB hard drive without use of a computer. The "Accessory Guide" recommends Seagate FreeAgent Desk disc. Printed guide has only 44 English pages, but electronic copy of seemingly the same document is twice longer, and contains chapter with detailed step-by-step instructions how to copy camcorder contents to an external compatible USB hard disc, without use of a computer. However, I was unable to backup files directly from camcorder to external USB drive, neither Seagate nor Western Digital USB discs are recognized. Perhaps due to the two male/female hookup USB cables used. The requred menu "Video Backup" never shows up on the camcorder LCD.

Surprisingly the Backup menu shows up when Everio is connected to Western Digital WD TV Live electronic media player using single cable since normal size USB connector exists on WD TV Live, but not on any external USB drive I have. The HD TV Live device has no internal storage, just the pass through video to a HDTV or other USB disc. This concluses that the combination of 2 USB cables (female/male), to make one cable with USB mini male on both ends may not provide all lines and proper connection. WD TV Live media player finds and plays AVCHD encoded video files directly from the camcorder connected via USB port.

This is amazing why the cable industry did not produce yet an USB cable that would have Mini USB male connector on both ends.

I noticed there is a lot more to this camcorder that is not explained in poorly written documentation. E.g. menu Low Light shooting shows up momentarily, but I was not able to open it, since it disapeared during menu scrolling. This setting could possibly solve low light problems that some people complained about.

World's Smallest and Slimmest Design
It took JVC to make an HD camcorder so small and light. 30% smaller compared to the previous year's, these models are the world's smallest and thinnest HD camcorders with built-in HDD, making them easier to carry and enjoy than ever before.

New Laser Touch Operation
An evolved version of our previous Laser Touch Operation, this system now allows Zooming and Recording using either the Laser Touch or standard zoom lever and REC button. Of course, browsing through indexes and menu selections is easy as ever.

Digest Playback
This function automatically selects highlight scenes from among the recorded content using our proprietary algorithm and plays back what looks like a "coming attractions" trailer for a movie. 60 minutes of footage is condensed into 5 minutes of highlight scene.

1920x1080/60P Output (HD Upconvert)
Using the same technology as GENESSA HD displays, this function outputs a 1080 scanning line image at progressive 60fps so you can enjoy uncompromising picture quality on a TV that accepts 1080P input.
*TV must be compatible with output formats.

Remote Control
Provided remote control to operate Everio from a distance for playback, DVD burning, etc. just like a DVD deck.

One Touch Upload to YouTubeTM
You can easily upload your videos to YouTubeTM and share them with the world. Everio makes uploading a breeze. Share your memories with family or friends living far away.
* Installation of bundled software required.

One Touch Pre-upload recording for YouTubeTM
When the UPLOAD button is pressed before recording, this automatically limits recordings to 10 minutes in length to keep them within the YouTubeTM file size limit. Smart and convenient.

Features

  • 120 GB HDD for up to 50 hours of 1920x1080 Full HD recording
  • 20x optical zoom with Konica Minolta HD lens; Face Detection
  • 1920x1080/60P output
  • Laser-touch operation with sub-trigger and zoom; one-touch upload to YouTube

Excelent camcorder

It produces true hi def results.

Wasn't Amazed by its video quality

by Cambo from Virginia on 2009-12-27
I bought this video camera because I wanted HD of course, but I also liked the small size and the salesman was pretty darn good of selling this thing out the door.

1. I haven't figured out how to burn the HD to DVD on the highest video setting. I'll keep working it - but when you set this thing at the highest quality video, it tells you you won't be able to export this to DVD.

2. Agree, the software that comes with it is not super easy to use.

3. Video quality suffers in low lighting such as indoors. The picture looks grainy (even when you use the video light). Outdoors in excellent light, colors and visuals are great.

4. Playing the videos back on my PC strains the PC memory and CPU. Even with a dual-core processor, 512 video driver, and 3 gigs of RAM - it's still slow / choppy. I'm better off playing directly from the camera to my TV.

5. As always, buy the bigger battery.

That's my 2 cents - I'll probably learn more as I continue to figure out its settings.

not so happy

by Walter Glass from Rogue Valley, Oregon on 2009-12-17
I recieved the product in great condition and it shipped very fast.
When I began playing around with this camcorder, i was amazed at the video quality. However, utilizing the software that ships with this camcorder is a pain in the ***. Every warm fuzzy feeling I get operating the camera, dissapears in a flash when I attempt to do anything with the video stored in the HDD. Shame on JVC for shipping a good camcorder with such crappy software (MediaBrowserHD edition). Shame on Pixela for making such a POS! To realize the full potential of this device, I have to purchase a decent program to export, edit, burn to BD and enjoy my video.
